The last six weeks have been a very busy and exciting time for the Hudson Grocery Cooperative. We have been awarded a $2,000 scholarship from the Food Cooperative Initiative! This money will help provide training and guidance for our start-up board of directors as we develop our mission, vision, and business plan.
The first annual membership meeting will be held in November. Co-op members will receive an invitation to this event in mid-October. At this meeting, we will elect the Board of Directors. Interested in sitting on the Board? All members of the co-op are eligible to run for a seat on the Board and, since this is our first election, all seven Director seats are up for election. Please Contact Us for more information.
Marketing Committee Update:
Our flyers and business cards are being distributed around town – thanks to the local business owners and organization directors for their support! As a result of this marketing effort, we have seen a big increase in our number of new owners – seven new owners joined last week alone. We also joined the Hudson Chamber of Commerce and look forward to participating in community events and marketing opportunities provided by this organization.
Vendor Relations Committee Update:
Our vendor relations committee is creating an amazing list of potential vendors. We have loved seeing the diversity of products grown and made in and near Hudson. If you can recommend a local food producer or manufacturer, please email us!
Please mark your calendars for the following events:
- Sprit of St. Croix Art Festival September 22nd, 9:45–11:00 am, Lakefront Park, Hudson
While you are checking out the amazing talent of local artists, stop by the Chamber of Commerce information booth to meet members of the Board and committees.
- Public Information Session, October 23rd, 6:30-7:30 pm, Hudson Public Library
Find out what our project is all about. We will have a short presentation defining the cooperative business structure, why we want one in Hudson, and what we have done up to this point. There will be time for questions and open discussion.
- Vendor Relations Committee Meeting, October 4, 6:30-8 pm Meeting room of Hudson Bagel and Coffee
We will review and add to our list of potential vendors, discuss options for announcing our project to new vendors, and set a timeline for committee work. Potential vendors are encouraged to attend.
We need your help to grow this co-op! Have you joined yet? We need the capital provided by your ownership in order to open our doors! Remember, joining as a member makes you a shareholder in the co-op, so there are no recurring fees, and you have the opportunity to receive patronage dividends in the future.
