Amy Noonan VolunteersWe need your help to make this co-op a reality! Whether you are interested in committing to serving on a committee until the doors open, or can help out with a single event, your help is appreciated and needed! Even if you can’t commit the time now, but have ideas – simply Contact Us with suggestions!

Writers Needed

We are seeking writers for blogs, newsletters, and promotional materials. If you are interested in learning more about this opportunity, please contact us!

Host an HGC House Party

Consider hosting a house party to convince your neighbors, family, and friends to join! We will provide promotional materials and applications, and we will also talk to your group to explain the benefits of having a locally owned grocery store in Hudson. Groups of 10 are optimal, and our board members would be happy to meet with you, answer questions, and help you. Just Contact Us to get started! A board member will contact you with all the information that you’ll need.

HGC Seeks Committee Members

Have you considered serving as a volunteer for HGC?  The more active volunteers we have the quicker HGC can open its doors.
There are a wide variety of volunteer opportunities, with something to fit most any skill sets.
Whether you have a few hour a week, once a month or just volunteer for one special event, we need your help!

Standing Committees

Marketing and Communications Committee

When: Meets monthly on the 1st Thursday
Location: Call for location (715-690-1043)

Create and promote our brand. Educate and provide marketing materials necessary to generate community interest in the Co-op. Examples of tasks include:

  • Provide content and updates on our Blog, Twitter, Facebook, etc.
  • Correspond with the media for upcoming events.
  • Create and distribute flyers and other notices to be seen by the public.
  • Maintain website.
  • Organize public awareness events.
  • Partner with local businesses.

Ownership and Volunteer Committee

When: Meets monthly on the 3rd Monday.
Location: 701 2nd Street, Hudson
Contact: Melanie Herberg, Chair

Maintain relationships with existing co-op owners. Examples of tasks include:

  • Maintain the ownership list.
  • Create a system for connecting with owners.
  • Produce and surveys to determine owner needs.
  • Maintain a list of volunteers.
  • Organize owner celebratory events.
  • Develop ownership packets.
  • Solicit owners to run for election to the Board of Directors.

Steering Committee

When: Meets monthly on the 3rd Tuesday.
Location: 701 2nd Street, Hudson

The Steering Committee is a working committee responsible for aiding the Board of Directors in overseeing issues of legal and regulatory compliance, and assisting with project management. This committee will perform much of the legwork and research for co-op development. Examples of tasks include:

  • Creating a performance evaluation process to evaluate the Board and Committees.
  • Generating a working timeline and budget.
  • Maintaining legal documents, including bylaws and articles of incorporation.
  • Recommending policy to the Board of Directors.
  • Determining criterion for selecting consultants and professionals.

Ad Hoc Committee

Vendor Relations Committee

This is currently a non-standing committee. We anticipate this starting up at some point in 2019 and we will be looking for people who have an interest in helping our cooperative source locally grown products from farmers and other vendors in the area. The committee will be committed to supporting family farms and other sustainable small businesses, providing high quality groceries for our customers, and growing the local economy. Examples of tasks include:

  • Connect with local producers about our project.
  • Create and maintain a list of interested producers and their products.
  • Make recommendations on product selection criteria.

Finance and Fundraising Committee

We are in the process of seeking representation on the Finance and Fundraising Committee. This committee will develop methods to finance the growth of our grocery store. It will generate systems to assist the board in fulfilling its oversight responsibility relating to issues of finance and accounting. Examples of tasks include:

  • Create fundraising opportunities.
  • Seek out and apply for grants.
  • Maintain the budget.
